New Identity Protection Benefit Offered to Employees
In this digital age, our personal information can be at risk of being compromised. We know that retail systems, mobile devices and online databases, even U.S. government databases, have faced privacy attacks. Stanford University is not immune to these attacks, as its W-2 vendor was compromised earlier this year.
Stanford is taking steps to assist employees with protecting their personal information by establishing a new partnership with AllClear ID, an identity theft protection service that provides all benefits-eligible employees with access to two identity theft programs paid for by Stanford.
“With the large number of data breaches that have occurred in recent years to organizations such as the Office of Personnel Management, IRS, Anthem-Blue Cross, Stanford and others, we should all assume that criminal organizations have the necessary personally identifiable information to open a financial account, secure a loan, or even file a fraudulent tax return in our name,” said Randy Livingston, vice president of business affairs and chief financial officer. “Everyone needs to take proactive steps to protect their financial assets and credit standing. Stanford is providing a new employee benefit to help you do that.”
This new benefit helps you stay informed of your credit activity. AllClear ID will send detailed alerts when banks and creditors use your identity to open new accounts so you can take action when needed. This service is an additional layer of protection that also includes a $1,000,000 identity theft insurance policy. Formal enrollment is required for the credit monitoring service.
Identity Theft Repair
You can access this service if you have ever been or become a victim of identity theft, even if it occurred before becoming a Stanford employee. It is available to all benefits-eligible employees while they are employed with Stanford and no formal enrollment is required. A dedicated investigator from AllClear ID will act as your advocate and initiate the dispute process to help recover financial losses, restore your credit report and return your identity to its pre-fraud state. As there are some conditions regarding financial recovery, individuals should review the disclosures provided by AllClear to become fully informed about its services.
