Chicken With Rice In The Oven :Bulgarian Style

A very popular Bulgarian dish. Very easy to prepare. Liked by a lot of people.


3-4 chicken thighs or a whole chicken
1 onion (or 1 bunch green )
1 cup of white rice
cumin or spearmint / I prefer the second one/
turmeric /optional/


Cut the chicken into portions.

Put them in a greased baking dish, add the chopped onion.

Put pieces of butter, and pour about 200-250 ml of water, somewhere to the middle of the chicken, not to cover it.

Put in preheated oven to seal until golden.

Remove from oven, turn-baked portions and add the washed rice. It should be at least 1: 3 with water we pour. Add the spices.

Bake the dish for about 30-40 minutes or until ready, the rice should absorb the water.

NB: I sometimes to save time cook this dish differently. First I boil chicken, then fry onions with rice very well, until rice is like glass. After that I put chicken ,rice and species in a dish, pour water at least 3 times more than rice or even 4 times. It depends on your taste. The dish is baked in the oven at 200C for about 30-40 minutes.

Пиле с ориз на фурна

Необходими продукти:

3-4 пилешки бутчета или цяло пиле
1 глава стар лук (или 1 връзка пресен)
1 ч.ч бял ориз
черен пипер
краве масло

Начин на приготвяне:

Нарежете пилето на порции, а ако са само бутчета ги разполовете.

Сложете ги в намазнена тавичка, поръсете подправките и добавете ситно нарязаният лук.

Тук таме сложете парченца масло, и налейте около 200 – 250 мл вода, някъде до средата на месото.

Сложете в загрята фурна да се запече до златисто.

Извадете от фурната, обърнете изпечените порции и добавете измитият ориз, който трябва да е поне 1:3 с водата, която ще налеем.

Печете ястието още около 30 мин или до готовност, ориза трябва да поеме водата.
