Grigor Dimitrov dethrones Andy Murray at Wimbledon watched by William and Kate
London. Bulgaria’s tennis racket Grigor Dimitrov dethroned last year’s Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. The Bulgarian triumphed 3:0 (6:1, 7:6, 6:2) and thereby qualified for the semi-finals of the British Open.
Dimitrov was victorious in front of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The Bulgarian did not give any chance to his Scottish opponent, and only the second set ended in tiebreak won again Dimitrov win.
Dimitrov is the first Bulgarian to ever reach the 1/2-final of a Grand Slam, and will face either Novak Djokovic or Marin Cilic.
With today’s victory Dimitrov earned GBP 440,000 and 720 points for the world rankings. He will also enter the Top 10 from next week with his excellent performance.
