Ukrainian Poppy Roll
raisins – 50g
rum – 4 tbsp
milk – 200 ml
Sugar – 4 tbsp
oil – 80 ml
almonds – 50g (minced)
honey – 50g
lemons – 1
cinnamon – ½ tsp
flour – 220 g
salt – 1 pinch
oil – 2 tbsp
Raisins are soaked in the rum.
The milk is boiled with sugar and 2 tablespoons oil.
Add poppy seeds and stir well, allow to boil for 2 minutes. Cool.
Almonds, honey, cinnamon, grated rind of lemon and the mixture of raisins and the rum are added to the poppy mixture.
Prepare the dough from flour, salt, cooking oil and 50 milliliters of hot water.
Allow to rise for 30 minutes.
Roll out and pull lightly smear with a thin layer of melted butter.
Place the poppy on the dough, leaving a 5 cm without filling of the two short sides.
Bends to a roll without being too tight.
Put it in a pan, greased with fat and smear the roll with oil.
Bake for 35C minutes at 180 degrees, from time to time brush with oil.
