Chudomir /1890-1967/
Chudomir is the pen-name of Dimitar Hristov Chorbadzhiiski, born on
25.03.1890 in Turia-a village in the district of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. He studies in the Gymnasium of Stara Zagora (until 1906) and graduates from the Artistic and Industrial High School in Sofia (1913). He takes part in the Balkan War, as well as the First World War. He specializes in Fine Arts in
Paris (1929-1930). After 1933, Chudom r starts his independent writing career. Till the end of his life, he becomes a deputy to the community center “Iskra” and a manager of the Historical and Ethnographical Museum in Kazanlak. He publishes caricatures and rhymed short literary works, which discuss the problems of the day, for the first time in 1907 in “Balkan Tribune”. Except for the caricatures, he writes humorous poems, short stories, epigrams, feuilletons for magazines such as “Drum”, “Red Laughter” and newspapers “Dawn” nd “Speech”. He is famous for his
short stories such as “I’m Not One ofThem” and “Locals”, satirizing human weakness and political vices of the time. He himself makes the illustrations of his short stories and feuilletons and has over 150 paintings and many pictures, which are displayed on the Art Exhibitions he carries out. His
works are translated in Russian, Slovak, Romanian, Czech, Serbian and
Croatian language.
